About the Juntos Board

Board of Directors members provide strategic oversight and long-term stewardship for Juntos Belize. Their role is distinct from the day-to-day work of the core team, Advisory Board members, and other team roles. The Board governs as a body; individual directors do not direct day-to-day operations unless specifically authorized to do so.

What the Board Does

The Board meets 2 to 4 times per year to review Juntos’s financial health, assess how the organization is managing growth in personnel and funding, and evaluate emerging opportunities or risks such as leadership capacity, partnerships, or sustainability.

Each year the Board helps determine the focus and scope of the ministry, including staffing and volunteer needs, budget, and fundraising requirements. It also develops and holds the organization accountable to an annual ministry theme that anchors how Juntos teaches and models stewardship throughout the year (e.g. Parable of the Talents in 2026).

Beyond this, the Board supports and evaluates the Director’s leadership, considers succession planning, and periodically assesses its own composition and effectiveness. It helps ensure Juntos remains in good standing as a certified 501(c)(3) in the United States and a registered NPO in Belize.

At its core, the Board exists to steward well what has been entrusted to this ministry—posing difficult questions, contributing independent perspective, and ensuring Juntos is structured to endure well beyond any single individual’s involvement (1 Corinthians 4:2).

Board Member Qualifications

We seek individuals who bring sound judgment, relevant professional experience (business, nonprofit governance, finance, law, or ministry), and a genuine, active commitment to the mission and values of Juntos Belize: Faith, Excellence, Integrity, Collaboration, Servant Leadership, Community, and Outreach.

The strongest Board combines these qualities with meaningful Belizean perspective and varied backgrounds and relationships. No single member needs to bring every quality, but the Board as a whole should possess them collectively (Proverbs 15:22). Members should be, or become, reasonably familiar with the compliance obligations that come with operating as a dual-entity nonprofit and able to offer sound guidance when those obligations bear on a Board decision.

We understand prospective members lead are busy. We are looking for people who will genuinely prioritize this role—responding promptly when their input is requested on Board matters, not only at scheduled meetings.

Individual Responsibilities

Each Board member is expected to:

• Prepare for and attend Board meetings, review materials in advance, and notify the Chair promptly when attendance is not possible.

• Exercise sound judgment—asking candid questions and voting according to Juntos’s best interests rather than personal or outside interests.

• Uphold the fiduciary duties of care, loyalty, and obedience.

• Contribute to establishing the ministry’s annual theme, focus, and scope, including staffing, budget, and fundraising direction.

• Approve the annual budget and monitor the organization’s financial health.

• Maintain confidentiality, disclose any conflicts of interest, and avoid speaking or committing Juntos publicly without authorization.

• Build trust with fellow Board members—speaking candidly, keeping confidences, dealing honestly, and raising concerns directly (Ephesians 4:25).

• Serve as an ambassador—representing Juntos accurately in personal and professional networks and listening to Belizean leaders and communities.

• Accept a reasonable share of committee, officer, or time-limited work when it fits the Board’s needs and the member’s experience.

Financial Support

Board members are expected to support Juntos in whatever way best fits their capacity—time, professional expertise, or introductions to potential partners or donors. In addition, because Juntos relies on individual Contribution to enable the work, we ask every Board member to make Juntos part of their own giving each year, at whatever level is meaningful. There is no minimum amount. All individual contributions are held in confidence. 

Term and Commitment

Board terms run one year and are renewable by mutual agreement. Service is voluntary; approved expenses are reimbursed according to Juntos policy. Before accepting appointment, a prospective member should review Juntos’s governing documents, current financial information, and any potential conflict-of-interests, and discuss expectations and the meeting schedule with the Board Chair.

Why This Matters

Juntos exists to help Belizean entrepreneurs and leaders understand their work as a calling, not merely a livelihood. The Board’s responsibility is to ensure that the organization stewarding this mission is itself well-governed, financially sound, and faithful to its purpose—so the work can outlast any one individual’s involvement and continue to bear fruit for years to come (John 15:16).

A Note about Our Governance Structure

Juntos Belize operates as a dual-entity nonprofit: a certified 501(c)(3) in the United States and a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) in Belize. The Board of Directors provides strategic oversight and long-term stewardship for the ministry.

Separately, a local board in Belize focuses on financial management and ensures compliance with Belize NPO requirements. Members of that Board for 2026-2027 include:
